The Global Literary Society (GLS) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to fostering a love for literature in youth both locally and globally. Our mission is to increase literary accessibility in underserved communities by facilitating an international exchange of books between students around the world. In partnership with Milwaukee Public Libraries, we host bi-monthly workshops with local students in the Milwaukee area, encouraging them to read and donate books to rural schools in our connected countries.

Through these donations, students worldwide engage with the books, write reviews, and send them back to GLS, where we share their reflections online. GLS has established connections with schools, orphanages, and organizations globally, empowering young readers and writers to share their favorite books and literary works. By promoting literacy and cross-cultural exchange, we aim to inspire a lifelong love for reading while bridging communities across continents.

the BLESS program
BLESS: Books for Literary Exchange through Student Sessions.
Our student sessions invites children in the greater Milwaukee area to read books, write reviews, and donate them to kids around the world. Not only will their responses be included in the book, but we invite the next book owners across the globe to respond as well, create a forum and open discussion on literature. The BLESS programs main goal is to foster of community of readers all united under a common love of reading and writing.

global book drives
The Global Literary Society hopes to hold 2-3 annual book drives a year to our various schools in Nigeria. We hope to invite schools across the Milwaukee area and Libraries with in the Milwaukee Public Library system to donate and support our cause.
local book drives + local giving
Finally, the organization uses our donations of books across the Milwaukee area to redistribute to organizations like the Next Door Foundation.

Secondly, our BLESS program reaches kids across the city to build a community within their libraries dedicated to supporting a literary symposium.
